  Yuelu Hill

 

  Chinese National 5A natural scenic spot, altitude 300.8 meters (986.88 ft). Located at the west coast of Xiangjiang River (branch of Yangtze River), a combined scenery of natural hills, rivers, lakes, animals and plants, cultural relics and Chinese revolution memories, etc.

  Famous sites as Yuelu Ancient Academy (built in 976 AD), Love Dusk Pavilion, Lushan Temple, Yunlu Palace (Chinese Taoist temple), former site of Chinese revolution society “Xinmin”, etc.



 

 

  The Orange Island

 

  The Orange Island is one of the alluvions in the Xiangjiang River, and is the biggest interior alluvion in the world. It is surrounded by water, with a length of about 5 kilometers, width of 40-140 meters, shapes very long in the center of Xiangjiang River. This is a 5A Chinese National scenic spot and a very important site in Changsha. It is renowned as “The Chinese Alluvion.”



 

 

  Tianxin Pavilion

 

  Tianxin Pavilion is a gate tower in ancient Changsha, and is the only Chinese ancient architecture in Changsha. Locating at the southeast corner of the city, the pavilion has three floors, with an area of 846 square meters. This gate tower has been a place famous since ancient times for the gathering of Cahinese poets, communicating and exchanging thoughts of poems and literature.



 

 

  Tombs of HAN Dynasty in Mawangdui

 

  These tombs belong to Licang and his family, who was the prime minister of Changsha during Chinese HAN Dynasty (206–9 BC). In 1972–1974, archaeologists had discovered these tombs with very complicated structures and the coffins fixed with charcoals and kaolin. As many as, in total, 3,000 pieces of silk books and paintings, lacquer, pottery, bamboo slips (used as materials to be written on in ancient China), stamps, carpentry, herbs, medical books, even livestock products were also buried as personal belongings of the prime minister’s family.

  Furthermore, the body of Xinzhui, Licang’s wife, was found also in the tombs, and is renowned as the most well-preserved body in Chinese archaeology field.

  The discovery of the tombs was of great significance in studying ancient China, including the development of handicraft and technology, as well as the history, culture and social life in ancient Changsha.



 

 

  Bamboo Slips Museum of Changsha

 

  Bamboo slips were used in China as a material to be written on before 350 AD. The Bamboo Slips Museum of Changsha is the only professional museum in the world doing the collecting, preserving, studying and displaying of bamboo slips, with an area of 14,100 square meters.

  Main collection include 140,000 pieces of bamboo slips from the Chinese “Three Kingdom” Period (220–280 AD) discovered in 1996, and about 20,000 pieces from early HAN Dynasty (around 200 BC) discovered in 2003.

  Additionally, there are 3,500 pieces of other ancient collection such as bronze, lacquer, calligraphy and paintings, gold and silver, etc.



 

 

  Hualongchi Bar Street

 

  Hualongchi is an ancient street with ancient style architecture, and nowadays becomes a famous street of light bars, very popular within foreign visitors in Changsha. Located in the Changsha CBD area, with the beautiful sight of Xiangjiang River nearby, Hualongchi bar street, together with Huangxing mall street, Taiping ancient street, are people’s first choice for leisure in Changsha.
